It has always been my wish to express my feelings about everything I see each and every single day. I find it very essential to use paints mainly because that's the simpler way for me to send a message.
"Art builds in the heart and rules the mind body and soul, it speaks every time all you got to do is listen and let the hand dance to the beat created deep within the memory! Art has no rules we draw what our memory whispers to us and we are never sorry for being called crazy because we understand that people can't feel or see. We are artists and art lives in us.
"The Portrait. The Archive. Memory. Nostalgia. Connection. Amnesia. Severing. Death. Replacement. Displacement. Presence and Absence.Â
We aren't what we used to be. I wish we could go back to what we were. I wonder what could have been. What are we now?Â
These are the questions and complexities of selfhood and family in relation to international and transnational upbringing that I attempt to address in my work. Drawing from my family archives and memories from before and during my time I use writing, painting, and printmaking to explore figure groupings and isolations to speak about my contemporary self portrait and family portrait and the histories that inform them. My representational works address evolving selfhood, the depiction of the past, and the relationship between personal archives and nostalgia."
"Mursi (2022). Moving Urn (2021). Nyane(2021). Anxiety(2021). African Elephant (2021).
My art is inspired by everyday encounters like feelings, people, animals etc. Art gives me a perfect platform to voice out how I feel inside without even talking or give people an opportunity to see things through my eyes."
"I am more like a warrior unlike most found. I battle myself from within, put it all in my artwork. Just like my path, my artworks are dark and twisted, and loses its way consistently, but each time it gets its rhythm, it is because like falling stars and thunderstorms.
"Understand me. I'm not like an ordinary world. I have my madness, I live in another dimension and I do not have time for things that have no soul" ~ Charles Bukowski.
Without question, my artwork captures the soul of one to really see, not look at it, from painting, pencil sketches to sculptures. I tell stories untold but needed to be heard."
